About Me

I'm Kat

I'm a Product Designer born and raised in New York City and working remotely out of my Brooklyn abode. Right now I’m designing Creator Tools at a no-code SaaS company called Unqork. I’ve been told I have infectious optimism and fun zoom backgrounds.

ā€‹

As a designer, my passion lies in exploring new frontiers, untangling tough problems, improving processes and having fun along the way

I could show you a double diamond design process; I’d explain to you why it’s a valuable framework for communicating design to stakeholders and that it's a noble attempt at explaining the design process - but I’m sure you already know all of that.

Instead, here’s a little bit about my values and design philosophy.

_Slow is smooth & smooth is fast

ā€‹It’s most important to me that my team takes the time to unify against the problems we're solving. Well defined problems and goals lead to easily executable plans. By taking the time to set intentions, organize and communicate, we’re set up to provide continuous value to our users and our businesses.

_A Product Design Collective

ā€‹Involve stakeholders and cross-functional team members early and often. Good ideas can come from anyone. Fostering an environment where everyone's input is valued, promotes sharing research, solutions, and more. Engaging workshops, design artifacts, and documentation weaves design thinking through the organization.

_Learn, Iterate, Repeat

ā€‹Having worked on large-scale and open-ended projects, I'm comfortable working in an agile state of mind. In my time working on a product team, I’ve learned not to let perfect get in the way of progress. Coming back to the double diamond.. It’s a cycle we run through more than once, strengthening the muscle each time.

A little more about me..

Before tech, I designed for our physical spaces through interior architecture and design. What first pulled me towards designing physical environments, was a genuine interest in how good design impacts our daily lives. A deep understanding of your user's needs and project constraints is vital to the success of any design whether it's a web app, a building or the perfect desk. The ability to abstract concepts, communicate visually and verbally, and collaborate with cross-functional teams, also happened to transfer into tech perfectly.

In my spare time, I’m volunteering as an art teacher at the Red Hook Art Project, snuggling up to my dog, or playing a video game.
